Santa Maria in Cosmedin - The Mouth of Truth

Naples has been in the news recently. Santa Maria delle Grazie translates into Saint Maria of Grace. There is something that has come to light I will write about in another article.

In the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin (or de Schola Graeca) in Rome, Italy is the Bocca della Verità - the Mouth of Truth. The truth cannot be hidden or denied anymore.

'A scene from the 1953 romantic comedy movie Roman Holiday was filmed in Santa Maria in Cosmedin. In the scene, "Joe" played by Gregory Peck shocks the "Princess" played by Audrey Hepburn by pretending to lose his hand in the Bocca della Verità'

Evidently The Mouth of Truth was meant to be known about and so we can thank the movie industry for bringing this to our attention. The Mount of Truth is also a reminder to everyone, within a church and outside, if we are sincere in our prayer to God, this is known. In some countries people are having hands chopped off for theft. Stealing a crown is very serious indeed.

The sacristy houses a precious 8th-century mosaic fragment brought here from the Old St. Peter's Basilica. Of the 18th-century restoration, the Crucifix Chapel and the Baptistry can be seen today.

In a side altar on the left of the church is kept the flower crowned skull of St Valentine. The day people commemorate Saint Valentine is on February 14th. Notice the skull is crowned. The name Valentini is also in my family on my father's side.

Inside Santa Maria in Cosmedin Rome, notice the bright golden yellow light in this photograph is shining from inside. It is this golden yellow light that was radiating from the body of Jesus Christ when revealed himself to me wearing his crown and mantle on 7th January 2013.

Jesus Christ is NOT a deceiver to any people.

Peace, love and best wishes
Pauline Maria
