Lost causes are the only causes worth fighting for and non violence is the only weapon used to fight them with - Martin Sheen addresses thousands of young people.
These young people share something in common - they are all motivated to make a positive difference and in some way are serving to help other children too.
The message Martin Sheen delivers is power to the people. His message echos shared vision and necessary action and attitude to bring positive change in our world.
Martin Sheen starts out to tell his audience is - born from a poor immigrant Catholic Irish and Spanish family. Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez took on the name for acting work as Martin Sheen although he never changed his name. This is the ideal example to show someone who is in his work acting a part and yet the real person is driven to make a difference.
Each time someone stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, they sent forth a tiny ripple of hope and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and injustice. Words spoken at Cape Town South Africa at the University in 1966 by Robert Francis Kennedy.
The three most important needs of the people were once food, clothing and shelter. Today as Martin Sheen concurs the three most important needs are Freedom, Justice and Healing.
Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, we are all responsible for each other and the world, which is exactly the way it is, whether consciously or unconsciously we have made it so and while none of us made any of the rules that govern the universe, we do make all the rules that govern our own hearts. And we are all beneficiaries of those many heroic strangers who have gone before us over the centuries who assure us that the world is still a wonderful and safe place despite our fears. And we are not asked to go great things - we are asked to do all things with great care'
This above all 'One Heart With Courage is a majority.'
'Over the entire history of the world, every truth started as a blasphemy. And no one has made a contribution of any real worth without self-sacrifice, personal sufferings and sometimes even death.' (Blasphemy is
My fondest wish for each and everyone of you young people here today is that you will find something in your life worth fighting for, because when you do, you will have discovered a way to unite the will of the spirit to the work of the flesh. And all of humanity will have discovered fire for the second time. It is my profound wish that the light from that fire will illuminate your path to that place where the heart is without fear and the head is held high, where knowledge is free. Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic wars, where words come out from the depths of truth and tireless scribing stretches its arms towards perfection. Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sands of dead habit. Where the mind is led forward by Thee (looks up towards the heavens) into ever widening thought and action into that heaven (pointing upwards towards heaven) of FREEDOM. Let us all awake. Thank You.
Just recently, am 8 year old child told me 'it is now necessary for every teacher to be responsible and take notice when children are upset and even being naughty'. The 8 year old child said 'I was being naughty because I was hurting and everyone was copying me'. She went two weeks into a new school and the teachers knew something was wrong.
Martin Sheen speaking at WE day in Vancouver 2010.
The audience are young children taking notice of the leadership voice who is empowering them. America is founded on Providence. America was founded on Freedom for the People. The Declaration of Independence became necessary to protect the people.
Martin speaks of making his living is by being an actor - Activism is what he does to stay alive. The passion of people speaking out is creating a chain reaction.
'Free the Children holds an annual series of an events called We Day. Tens of thousands of youths gather in an inspirational event as part of the yearlong educational initiative of We Act. Tickets are not purchased. They are given to students who earn their tickets through service in a local or a global cause.' More links below
The video above has shown not only the leaders of the future, these young people have already taken the initiative to make a positive difference.
Evolved souls serve and give to enable other people. Everyone who is in the public eye today, is there for a reason. There are people who are extreme and being outrageous with their behaviour and yet one day, what they have to say will all make sense.
Peace, love and best wishes
