On 25 May 2002, China Airlines Flight 611 disintegrated in mid-air and crashed intothe Taiwan Strait just 20 minutes after taking off from Taipei, killing 225 people. Afaulty repair to the rear of the aircraft following an earlier tailstrike when the planewas a few months old caused the entire tail section to weaken and fail.

The detail in any investigation for a problem - in whatever scale is to identify the root cause of the problem. In the video the experts discovered 'a patch' and explain why this might be put in place. Then examination as to why this is in place invites closer examination. Sharing this video is to show the behind the scenes investigatative experience and the indepth scruteny involved.

The loss of 225 lives took place in this incident - 225 lives with the reminder that if people are  to fly in passenger vehicles, patching up problems is not ensuring safety for the people.

Sometimes the loss of life is reason why attention is brought to issues and it is in everyone's best interest to ensure that short cuts and cover ups are not taking place.

Structural repairs are for a reason....eventually if something is broken, it is not going to fix itself. The video provides evidence on why a flaw caused the devastating cost of many lives. Could these lives be saved? It is easy to say what if? Learning from these investigations might prevent many more incidents in the future. Safety standards for passenger airplanes is with preventative measures.

Setting the standard - repair properly, not short cuts.
